Corrections and Reviews

How anyone can question a record, how the independent panel reviews it, and how mistakes and false claims are put right, in public.

Last updated: 19 October 2026Reviewed by the independent panel

Anyone can report

Students, parents and members of the public can report any record from its QR page.

Both sides are heard

The institute always gets a chance to respond before the panel decides.

Honest mistakes fixed fairly

Genuine errors are corrected without being treated like false claims.

Decisions are published

Every major correction, suspension and removal appears in our monthly report.

01Why Corrections Matter

A Contribution Score is only useful if people can trust it. Records are entered by institutes, so mistakes and, occasionally, false claims will happen. This page explains how anyone can question a record, how the independent panel reviews it, and what happens next.

Our aim is simple: fix what’s wrong, be fair to everyone involved, and show our decisions in public.

02How a Record Gets Reviewed

  • A report from a QR page. Every public record has a Report a Concern button. This is the quickest way to raise a problem.
  • A report by email. Write to Grievance@contributionscore.in with the Institute ID and details of the record.
  • A student’s own request. A student can ask for their record to be corrected, or for their name and photo to be removed, by writing to Privacy@contributionscore.in.
  • An institute’s change request. An institute can ask to correct a record after its result has been recorded.
  • Our own checks. We regularly look for warning signs, such as the same student listed by many institutes, or records added close to the 10-day limit with unusual dates.

03How a Review Works

  1. 1
    Report received

A report comes in from a QR page, by email, or through our own checks. The person who reported gets a reference number.

  2. 2
    Initial check

We check the report is about a real record and has enough detail to review. Reports that are clearly unrelated are closed, with the reason given.

  3. 3
    Institute responds

The institute is told what was reported, without being told who reported it, and is asked to respond with its records.

  4. 4
    Panel review

The independent panel looks at the report, the institute's response and the dashboard history for that record.

  5. 5
    Decision

The panel decides whether the report is upheld and what should happen. Both sides are told the decision and the reason.

  6. 6
    Record updated and published

The record and its score are updated. Major changes are listed in the next monthly report.

04How Long It Takes

StageTime
We confirm we’ve received a reportWithin 2 working days
The institute respondsWithin 7 days of being told
The panel makes a decisionWithin 30 days of the report
A student’s request to remove their name and photoWithin 5 days
An appeal is decidedWithin 15 days of the appeal

Complex cases can take longer. If they do, we’ll tell everyone involved why, and when to expect a decision.

05Possible Outcomes

OutcomeWhat it means
Not upheldThe record was found to be correct. Nothing changes, and the reason is shared with the person who reported.
CorrectedA detail was wrong and has been fixed. The score is worked out again, and the record shows the date it was corrected.
Record removedThe record couldn’t be backed up, or the student withdrew consent. The badge and its QR record stop working.
WarningThe institute broke a rule in a way that needs to be noted. Repeated warnings can lead to suspension.
SuspendedThe institute can’t add students or record results, and all its badges show the suspension, until the panel decides.
RemovedThe institute is removed from Contribution Score, its badges stop working, and the decision is final unless an appeal succeeds.

06Genuine Errors and False Claims

Not every wrong record is dishonest. The panel separates the two carefully.

Usually a genuine error

  • A typing mistake in a date or name
  • A course upgrade that was recorded late
  • A wrong course type that doesn't change much
  • Fixed quickly once the institute is told

Treated as a false claim

  • Changing dates to get around the 10-day rule
  • Adding students who never studied with the institute
  • Using one badge for several students
  • Hiding or refusing to share records when asked

Genuine errors are corrected and noted, without any penalty. False claims lead to a warning, suspension or removal, depending on how serious they are and whether they’ve happened before.

07Corrections by Institutes

  • Before a result is recorded, an institute can update a student's course details and dates from its dashboard. The 10-day limit for adding a student can't be changed.
  • After a result is recorded, any change needs a change request with a reason. Small fixes are checked by our team. Changes that affect the grade go to the panel.
  • Every change is kept in the dashboard history, so the panel can see what was changed, when and by whom.
  • Institutes that correct their own mistakes quickly are treated as having made a genuine error.

08Requests from Students

Students have the final say over their own name and photo. A student can ask us to correct a wrong detail in their record, or to remove their name and photo from it, by writing to Privacy@contributionscore.in. We’ll act within 5 days and tell the institute. A student never needs the institute’s permission to make this request.

09Fairness for Everyone

  • Reporters stay private. We never tell an institute who made a report.
  • Institutes are always heard. No decision is made without giving the institute a chance to respond.
  • No pressure on reporters. An institute that threatens or pressures a student or parent over a report breaks our Terms of Use and can be removed.
  • Reports must be honest. Reports made in bad faith, such as by a rival institute, are closed, and repeated bad-faith reports may be blocked.
  • No conflicts of interest. A panel member with any link to an institute or student in a case doesn't take part in it.

10Appeals

An institute or the person who reported can appeal a decision once, within 15 days of being told it. The appeal is reviewed by panel members who weren’t part of the first decision, and is decided within 15 days. Their decision is final. To appeal, write to Grievance@contributionscore.in with your reference number and why you think the decision was wrong.

11Where Decisions Are Shown

  • The QR record shows the date a record was corrected.
  • The institute lookup shows if an institute is suspended or removed.
  • The monthly report lists every major correction, suspension and removal, with the reason. Students and people who report are never named.
